Our authentic and superbly made hand-knotted and hand-loomed Moroccan Rugs are rich in beauty, culture, and comfort. With techniques passed down through the generations, Moroccan women create truly stunning pieces of art, highlighting not only their tremendous skill but their incredible creativity. Each region of the country has its own distinctive look, though each rug is truly unique - imaginative creations by the weavers themselves. Flat woven kilims and cozy hand-knotted pile rugs are made throughout the country by different Berber tribes. From the Middle Atlas Mountains come the creamy wool Beni Ourains, Beni M'Rirts and Marmouchas. Also found in this region are the predominantly red and orange Zemmour kilims. The High Atlas Mountain regions are home to the colourfully expressive Azilal rugs, as well as the tightly woven Taznacht kilims and the classic black and white Zanafi kilims . Boujaad rugs, with their strong, vibrant colours, come from the Central Plains of the Haouz region. Playful and fluffy Boucherouite rugs, also known as rag rugs, are resourceful textiles made from upcycled pieces of available fabrics. Our collection of hand-selected rugs can be seen in person at our bricks-and-mortar shop in Toronto. May you be inspired by these unique, one-of-a-kind art forms.
